Holding on to perceived wrongs from the past is like carrying a vial of poison in your mouth. At any time it can make you sick and at all times it is inconvenient and dangerous.
When you think you have an opportunity to use it you may find it has lost it’s potency. Best to leave it behind to make space for the sweeter things life has for you to taste.

Dane Cook has a comedy skit in which he gives candy to the weird guy at work so that one day if the man goes insane he will remember the kindness and spare his life. Fear should not be the only reason we are kind to people who are different, all kinds of people can teach us, we just have to give them a chance.

If you know a way to help a friend realize a dream it is your responsibility and destiny to do it. We are all put here for a reason and perhaps your reason is to set in motion a chain of events that will produce the next John Lennon or Mahatma Gandhi. Whatever you feel you can do, do it. That friend will never forget it and if you are lucky they will do the same for you. If you aren’t lucky, you will at least have the satisfaction of knowing you made a difference in the world.

See bad movies.

It’s not a waste of time to see something billed as a waste of time, if you see it with a sense of humor. Take along a friend with a great attitude and you will have great conversations for months!

Take compliments at face value, and insults too!

People flatter. It’s a defense mechanism, people want you to like them so you won’t hurt them. Most often the flattery holds some truth and should be greeted with acceptance and a grain of salt.
In the same vein, insults are also a defense mechanism. People hurt you to keep you from hurting them. Most often the insult holds only a little bit of truth. Insults should be greeted with a grain of salt and discarded.

Roads cross and paths separate.

To get peace with the idea of separating with someone with whom you have a long term relationship remember that in life there are many paths to take, and your path, although it may have run parallel with someone else’s, for a while may lead you in another direction that will be more satisfying in the end. Seek your own destination and enjoy the journey!

You make up your mind about someone in the first 30 seconds, but sometimes you’re wrong. People change clothes, they wake up in a bad mood, they get tired and cranky. You may meet someone at exactly the wrong time in their lives and miss out on a great friend if you allow that first 30 seconds to cement your thoughts on someone. Keep an open mind.

Let people change your mind.

Keep an open mind when it comes to other people’s arguments about anything. You have strong opinions and you would like to change the minds of people around you. The people you speak with feel the same way. Listen to them like you would like them to listen to you: with an open mind. What if their way is better?
